In an odd comparison, movie star and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg claimed that the right to celebrate Christmas is the same as a women’s right to abort her baby.
During Tuesday’s episode of The View, quarreled with her co-host about the separation of church and state, and American citizen’s right to celebrate Christmas and put out decorations, like the nativity scene, to promote the Christmas holiday.
Out of the blue, Goldberg brought up the subject of abortion, insisting that celebrating Christmas is “the same conversation with a women’s right to choose.”
“What I do with my body is my right. It is not your right to tell me,” she said. “The same thing is it’s – if you believe in Christmas, it’s not my right – you know, I grew up and – and, you know, kids who didn’t go to Catholic school had Christmas and they – we never knew what their religions were, but we hung ‘cause it was Christmas holiday.”
This is not the first time Ms. Goldberg has used her position on The View to promote her position on abortion and preach her opinions about “reproductive rights.”
Goldberg asked, “I’m sorry, I got to ask this question. The first part of it is you’re running, I assume you’re a person who is very, sort of, pro-life. Are you going to run as a person going to govern for everyone or are you running on your Christian beliefs?”
She also criticized the right-wing activists that have been pushing to ban federal funding of Planned Parenthood, warning the conservative politicians to “get out of my vagina!”
